Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve never booked a holiday on my own,  how do I know it's for me?
The majority of bookings are from ‘solo travellers’; people booking and coming on their own.

If you are keen to visit the tour destination and you fit the age group of the holiday then the trip is for you!  Most of the trips have a group welcome dinner on the first night or at least a group welcome drink offering a relaxed and easy environment to meet and get to know your travel companions.

What ages go on the holidays?
For each of our holidays we define an age range. We believe that by age-matching trips, it's more likely to bring together a group of like-minded travellers. On a request basis, we will consider persons outside the age range of the holiday.

What are the group sizes?

Due to the variety of different style trips, the group sizes vary from trip to trip.

For active trips like the walking trips groups are intimate sizes and as a guide from 6 to 14 persons.

For touring in Australia, we focus on selecting small group touring options and group sizes are generally 10 to 20 persons.

For our resort-style trips, on average group sizes are 35 people but could range from 18 to over 40 people.

For overseas group touring it will vary and depend on the tour operator. There are trips with small group numbers between 10 to 26 people and some tours with full coaches up to 40 to 48 people.

Do I have to be a member of this site to join a holiday group?
Not at all.   However, if you are a member of the site it means we can keep you up to date as new holidays are announced and from time to time special otherwise.

How to I avoid the single room supplement?
We provide a room mate matching service. With a room mate match you will share a room (same gender of course) and pay the twin share room rate.   In most cases, we are able to confirm a room mate match.

If there is not a match available we call this a ‘forced single’.  The conditions of room mate matching vary from holiday to holiday. For some holidays if you are in a ‘forced single’ situation a single room may be provided at no additional cost or at a reduced rate. In some cases, the full single supplement will apply. Please check the holiday specific website for details or call to ask us.

Are there even numbers of men and women on trips?
The ratio of women to men on each of the trips is influenced by the holiday style.

For our resort-style holidays, where it’s all about relaxing, dining and socialising we endeavour to balance the ratio between men and women and aim for a balance or as close as possible to a 60/40 split.

For other trips, be it, active holidays, leisurely touring or a cruise, we do not make a commitment to the gender balance. We know from experience and previous group feedback that the foremost reason travellers join our groups is because it’s the destination and the offer a social bunch of solo travellers that appeals, rather than a focus on the gender balance of a trip
